Graphics to share on social media for the 100th anniversary of Howard Zinn's birth.

What we have in place
  • We have quotes by Howard Zinn and photos.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,002 , allowing us to develop more people's history lessons to share with teachers via the Zinn Education Project that we coordinate with Rethinking Schools.

Teachers are being attacked for teaching people's history as part of a right wing campaign in more than 28 states. Included in the harassment of teachers are McCarthy era attacks on Howard Zinn. On this 100th anniversary of his birth, we would like to highlight what he said in his own words. Attractive graphics can help bring that message to a wider audience.

  • Volunteer Manager shares with Professional the intended platform(s) where graphics will be posted, ideas for copy, and images to include in the graphics (if any)
  • Volunteer Manager and Professional discuss the objective of the graphic, key audiences, and visual branding guidelines
  • Volunteer Manager shares examples of graphics or memes they like with the Professional

Milestone 1: Preliminary Design
  • Professional drafts three graphics using different themes to share with the Volunteer Manager
  • Volunteer Manager chooses one draft as a primary theme and provides feedback

Milestone 2: Graphic Creation
  • Professional provides Volunteer Manager with first draft of graphic
  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with up to two rounds of feedback

Milestone 3: Final Graphic Delivered
  • Professional delivers final version of the graphics and explains how to upload image(s) to the Organization’s chosen platform(s)

Our mission

Teaching for Change provides teachers and parents with the tools to create schools where students learn to read, write, and change the world.

By drawing direct connections to real world issues, Teaching for Change encourages teachers and students to question and re-think the world inside and outside their classrooms, build a more equitable, multicultural society, and become active global citizens. Our professional development, publications, and parent organizing programs serve teachers, other school staff, and parents. Our main focus is national and we have dedicated programs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

What we do

Teaching for Change offers professional development, develops lessons, and curates resources to help classroom teachers supplement pre-K-12 curriculum.
