Our mission

To help people faced with natural, social, and economic disasters to prevent and solve emergency legal challenges by providing free, accessible, and easily understandable information and services.

What we do

ELR's goal is to provide clear, understandable, and useful legal information and direct assistance to people impacted by disasters and who fall into a "Justice Gap" because they earn too much to qualify for federally-funded legal aid (which only serves those with income equivalent to or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines), but not enough to hire private attorneys. We believe that all people faced with emergencies deserve easy access to civil legal information and services.
