Project details

What we need
  • An edited 1-3 minute video delivered in electronic format as agreed upon between the Professional and Organization, with HD quality as a master version, along with any agreed upon formats for final usage
Additional details

I am looking to create a video that will entice kids, teens and adults to participate in my organization's programs. I would like to invite past participants to share a few words (on camera) that can then be compiled into one (or multiple short video clips).

What we have in place
  • I have students, mentors and parents in mind for to invite to share their experiences (via video). I am looking for help on the best way to video tape them (software, length of video, background, etc) leading to creating a compelling video. I would then need a volunteer to edit the video and produce the final product.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,422 , allowing us to use that money to offer stipends to mentors and help support teens as the embark on college careers with scholarships.

I am looking to find ways to inspire more families to participate in the program. The current pandemic has limited our outreach opportunities as we are currently prevented from engaging with students in person. Also our past connection with teachers has also be curtailed because of the pandemic.

Project plan

P
Prep: Information Sharing & Asset Exchange
  • Volunteer Manager provides overview of vision and goals for video, as well as information about target audience
  • Volunteer Manager and Professional agree upon file format and length of video
  • Volunteer Manager collects collateral (e.g. raw video footage, photos, testimonials, media materials) to be edited into the video, and digitizes all the materials in the format and resolution suggested by the professional. If applicable, the Organization provides links to 3-5 videos it would like the professional to use as a creative guideline for the final product
1
Milestone 1: Video Outline & Script Finalization
  • Professional reviews assets that the Organization shared (including existing footage and proposed script) to create video outline
  • Professional shares with Organization and incorporates feedback
2
Milestone 2: Video Creation & Feedback
  • Professional creates video in agreed upon format and shares with Organization for feedback (up to 2 rounds)
3
Milestone 3: Final Video Delivery
  • Professional delivers final video in agreed upon format

Our mission

The mission of Random Hacks of Kindness Junior, Inc. (RHoKJr) is to empower students to use technology to positively impact the challenges facing local nonprofits in their communities. We do this by hosting one-day hackathons around the state where 4th-8th grader are paired with computer science mentors and nonprofit representatives to develop prototype smartphone apps for local charities. Using an MIT developed coding tool students will learn the basics of app design, as well as the ideation and brainstorming process required to build a successful prototype mobile application. All students regardless of their computing background are welcome.
