What We Need
  • Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
  • Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
Additional Details

We have an almost completed employee handbook and need some support finishing it. We had a local firm helping us pro bono before the pandemic but were unable to finish it.

Meanwhile, we have gone from a 2 person organization to a 4 person, so the urgency of it being completed is now more immediate.

What We Have In Place
  • We currently have the almost completed handbook, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have our staff have made comments directly on the handbook, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How This Will Help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to reinvest that money into our foster youth leadership programs or into direct aid for impacted Fosters.

We are a small nonprofit that has recently doubled in size and have had recent big legislative victories (Full ride scholarships for aging out foster youth!). With that is increased recognition that we need to improve our systems and operations as we transition from a "start-up" to a "proof of concept" phase of our organization.

Foster Advocates is not just our name; it's our mission. We foster advocacy, policy change, and organizing by partnering with current/former foster youth and impacted communities.

What We Do

ORGANIZE
We organize individuals with connections to child welfare systems to build power and the capacity of our foster care community. Our Foster Advocates Fellowship is a 6-month leadership and advocacy development opportunity for current & former Fosters to build their capacity and turn "activators into activists."

ADVOCATE
We advocate with former foster youth and stakeholders at the county and state level to create the changes our communities need.

CONDUCT POLICY & RESEARCH
We conduct policy and research on the identified issues our foster communities prioritize, and support annual legislative priorities identified by the foster community.
