Families Empowered would like to identify 3-5 organizational goals as we start the creation of a 3-year strategic plan. We are looking for a consultant with market-based management planning experience preferably.

What we have in place
  • We currently have our current 3 year strategic plan (that ends this year), which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have our mission/vision, 2021 annual goals and budget documents, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,620 , allowing us to allowing us to serve more low-income families by helping them navigate their educational choices for free, especially as the education landscape continues to change in light of COVID.

Identifying organizational goals for the next three years will provide direction and focus as we are navigating a period of change and growth for our organization. This will help us to develop our next 3-year strategic plan as well as a documented plan of action on how to accomplish our goals. We will utilize our strategic plan to provide a clear path for our organization, bring a sense of focus, improve our self-awareness, and provide a common sense of purpose throughout our team.

Prep: Information Sharing
  • Volunteer Manager shares foundational materials to help Professional understand current state and historical context, including mission & vision, business plan, program data, and financial information
  • Volunteer Manager and Professional discuss any urgent gaps that must be incorporated into annual goals

Milestone 1: Meeting Facilitation
  • Professional facilitates 1-2 sessions with Executive Director and leadership team, if applicable, to discuss organization-wide goals based on core needs (e.g., program development, fundraising, marketing, internal operations)
  • Group agrees on 3-5 goals for a period of time

Milestone 2: Goal Refinement
  • Professional refines goals, writes out in bullet-point form, and shares with team
  • Volunteer Manager and/or leadership provides up to 2 rounds of feedback, which Professional incorporates

Milestone 3: Slide Creation
  • Professional creates short presentation in Powerpoint, Google Slides, or Keynote containing annual goals that Volunteer Manager can share with internal stakeholders or board of directors

Our mission

Although families in major cities in Texas have multiple school options available to them beyond their zoned school, a variety of barriers make it very difficult for families, especially resource-constrained families and those with limited English proficiency, to understand their options and exercise school choice. These barriers include lack of parent-friendly information about various types of schools and how to compare them, multiple application processes with different deadlines, and language barriers, among others.

Families Empowered's goal is for ALL families to have access to schools that work, for them.
