Employee Handbook
Project details
What we need
- Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
- Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
Additional details
We don't have a handbook but we do have some materials with which to start. We need policies surrounding vacation and leave, in particular. We are a very small staff but we are growing!
What we have in place
- We currently have a draft employee handbook cribbed from another org, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have an HR attorney on our board in case that helps, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to hire with confidence and use those funds to pay for critical things like healthcare for our employees!
We are in the process of hiring our fourth staff person, and we would very much like to have this at least underway, if not finished, in time for their hire this spring.

Testimonials
Sam Jennings was an absolute joy to work with as we co-created Urban Hope’s first Employee Handbook! He was punctual and prepared for all our working meetings. He even made very difficult HR conversations enjoyable and light hearted. He acknowledged Urban Hope’s unique needs and shared practical ways to improve our current state. He provided tangible feedback to address real-life and hypothetical policy concerns that equipped the staff to healthily respond to future scenarios. We cannot thank Sam enough for his dedication, support and wisdom in culture creation. Urban Hope is better off because of it!
When people are looking for a place to work, they want to know the organization lives their mission and cares about their people. Urban Hope exemplifies this. Working with Sarah and Shaleetta has been an absolute joy. The overarching question seemed to consistently be, "How can we do more for our employees?" That effort and care clearly drives them to have a great organization to provide an excellent service.
