Hiring Strategy
Hiring Strategy
Project details
What we need
- Recommendations on active and passive recruiting and proper channels to pursue candidates
- Guidelines for hiring process, including order and number of interview rounds, reference checks, and general best practices for an inclusive interview
- Effective interviewing techniques and clear, consistent standards for evaluating candidates
- Tips for negotiating details such as compensation package and title
Additional details
We're hiring our first employees outside of our founding team! We're so excited to expand, but want to make sure that we're doing so in an equitable, inclusive manner. As a young organization, we don't currently have any policies or procedures in place for this, but the good news is we don't have any bad habits formed yet either! Consider us a blank slate ready for your expert guidance.
What we have in place
- We currently have an open mind and a desire to do things the right way, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a strong commitment to working with you, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,806 , allowing us to operate our free supply store for teachers for over two months with those funds. In that time, we'll serve hundreds of educators and distribute over $200,000 worth of goods to our local schools!
With the need for our services rapidly increasing, our overworked team needs help so we can serve every teacher who comes our way. We're expanding our programming and looking to hire several new people this year, so it's vital that we start the process with a solid, equitable hiring strategy. This is our chance to get things right so we can achieve long term success and be a great place to work.
Project plan
Our mission
The Welman Project is on a mission to fill a classroom, not a landfill. Through creative repurposing of surplus business waste, we give teachers the tools and support they need to provide vital hands-on learning opportunities to every student.
What we do
Our programs include:
- A teacher warehouse full of unlimited free materials and curriculum-enhancing creative reuse ideas
- A retail store for makers and families to get affordable arts and craft supplies and support local artists
- A makerspace with tools and workshops that empower everyone to explore their creativity.
