We’re celebrating National Volunteer Month & the incredible 762,592 hours given by Catchafire volunteers! Nonprofits wanted to say thank you - watch the video!
OAR is a fifty year old non profit with 30 - 35 employees. We are dedicated to providing fair, respectful, evidence based alternatives to incarceration for the citizens of central Virginia. We are challenged by budgetary constraints and historic policies when it comes to compensation. We need some fresh ideas for how to improve this aspect of our business. OAR is a close knit agency with a true family atmosphere. Our compensation plan should reflect how much we value our employees.
We experience fairly high turnover in a field that requires at least two years to become proficient at the job. Thus we are continuously training new staff who wind up moving on once they are accomplished in case management and the legal system. We believe that is at least partially due to the lack of advancement opportunities within the agency and the inflexible and low-paid salary structure we have in place.
The purpose of OAR/Jefferson Area Community Corrections is to assist individuals who are arrested, imprisoned, or released from incarceration to gain and retain self-respecting, self-sustaining, and crime-free lifestyles.
