Board Assessment
Board Assessment
Project details
What we need
- 1-2 page summary of takeaways and trends from interviewing key individuals (no more than 8 interviews total)
- Identification of the board’s strengths and recommendations for areas of improvement for board members collectively and individually
Additional details
We're a small local nonprofit focused on defending the civil rights of the Massachusetts Muslim community. We're nearly six years old, and our board is hoping to revitalize its impact within the organization.
What we have in place
- We're part of the national CAIR organization, and as such have full access to the resources for chapter and board development that they provide.
How this will help
This project will save us $8,773 , allowing us to fully fund our annual Muslim Youth Leadership Program for the coming year for 35 Muslim high school students.
Our chapter is undergoing a revisioning process, centered around our board and our Executive Director. As we undertake a leadership transition and begin to evaluate our structure to construct a five-year plan, we're looking for an experienced professional to help guide our growth strategy.

Our mission
The Council on American-Islamic Relations – Massachusetts (CAIR-MA), a registered 501-C3 educational nonprofit, is a chapter of America's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization. CAIR-MA’s mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
What we do
CAIR-MA serves one of Massachusetts’ most vulnerable demographics: the American Muslim community. This diverse population includes refugees and immigrants, children and youth, the elderly, and the disabled.
But CAIR-MA does not exclusively serve the Muslim community: by educating the wider American public about Islam and American Muslims, we help dispel cultural misunderstandings and bridge gaps between diverse groups.
