Project details

What we need
  • Training goals for a specific population (volunteers, staff, program participants, etc.)
  • Advice on what training methods the Organization should pursue to meet its goals (webinars, lectures, print materials, etc.)
  • Suggestions for curriculum design, creative messaging, call to actions, methods and timeline
  • Budget for implementation (taking the Organization’s resource constraints into consideration)
  • A written document that summarizes objectives, strategies and actions steps
Additional details

We are looking for professional training design, writing, and formatting help on our Volunteer Handbook in Google Docs to make it a polished and appealing resource for the volunteers that we rely on so much to help us with daily animal care. We have an outline of the handbook content, but could really use help writing out the sections. We are also hoping to add graphics/photos and formatting to make this a professional looking document.

What we have in place
  • We have a dedicated volunteer coordinator who will support you on this project. We will give you access to the document in Google Docs and the additional documents, text, and photos, to work your magic on!
How this will help
This project will save us $6,000 , allowing us to feed and provide daily healthcare for our 65+ rescued farm animals and special needs animals. Every dollar saved helps us to provide sanctuary to more animals in need, and outreach to the community.

Our animal care volunteers are critical to providing high-quality and loving care to our animal residents. Our vision at the start of the sanctuary was to stay small enough so that the founder could manage the entire organization herself. Well, destiny got in the way! starting with a huge need for sanctuary for animals rescued from the 2018 volcano eruption, and many special needs animals and hunting orphans that have come to use since. We could not do it without a well oriented volunteer team.

Our mission

Founded in 2018, Magical Creatures Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates, and offers life-long sanctuary to farmed animals on the Big Island while serving the Hawaiian community with programs that promote kindness, compassion, and stewardship.

What we do

Magical Creatures is an entirely volunteer-run organization and we are privileged to have an extraordinarily dedicated team. Many of our residents were evacuated from farms during the 2018 volcanic eruption, but the majority were saved from slaughter, rescued from neglect, have special needs, or were orphaned or injured in the wild. We provide lifelong care to the animals we rescue, and we do everything we can to ensure that injured, neglected, or lost farmed animals can find peace with us and live the rest of their lives with dignity.
