What we need
- Analysis of the current process and creation of a current state map
- A document outlining potential goals of process improvement
Additional details
We are a very small nonprofit with one office staff (the Executive Director). We would like advice on what internal accounting controls to put into place to ensure that there are checks and balances within our accounting system.
What we have in place
- We use online Quickbooks for our accounting needs. We have a bookkeeper, but she is not onsite. She does not see the documentation first hand.
Checks are printed from Quickbooks. Credit cards are processed through Quickbooks and our credit card statement is downloaded to Quickbooks.
We have treasurer and additional check signers.
We have a checking account and two investment accounts.
How this will help
This project will save us $6,868 , allowing us to serve more students.
We want to ensure that we have procedures in place to reduce the possibility of fraud or theft.

Our mission
Literacy Council of Norristown (LCN) empowers adults to improve literacy skills or learn the English language utilizing trained volunteers and teachers who provide tutoring or classroom instruction at no cost.
What we do
We provide one-on-one tutoring for adult learners in GED preparation, improving reading and math skills, citizenship preparation, as well as English as a Foreign language classes.
