What we need
  • Document outlining Organization’s or a specific program’s strengths and weaknesses as well as potential opportunities and threats
Additional details

Given recent shifts in funders' priorities, our partners' programming, and the ever changing Digital Communications landscape, this analysis is foundational to our strategic planning efforts. While we think we know our organization, we would benefit tremendously from an unbiased outsider's viewpoint. In addition, we are currently undergoing a leadership change, and this assessment is a crucial starting point for new management's task of setting the direction for post-COVID GreenTreks.

What we have in place
  • We currently have proposals in response to RFPs which detail our background, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have backgrounders, website, social media channels, BOD members, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $7,888 , allowing us to build our internal capacity. We are a small operation that pulls talented teams together on a per project basis, but we struggle to become a consistent presence due to lack of internal resources.

Recent years have seen us pivot from our own internally-driven, grant funded programs to an overweight in "fee for service" projects that align with our mission. This project will help us re-evaluate the reasons for this shift, set the stage for a rebalancing if appropriate, and set us on track towards a more sustainable future in which we make a greater impact.

Prep: Distribution of Materials & Goal Setting
  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with information regarding current operations (financial, programmatic, physical and human resources), Organization-wide or program goals and mission, and market analysis
  • Professional facilitates meeting with Organization’s leadership to discuss goals for the SWOT analysis
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager outline next steps and timeline for the project (including individual meetings between Professional and members of Organization such as functional heads, board members, etc.)

Milestone 1: Initial Analysis
  • Professional analyzes the information shared by the Organization
  • Professional researches any additional information about external competitive landscape based on the market analysis
  • Professional conducts interviews with different Organization stakeholders for their perspectives on strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities and threats

Milestone 2: Draft Deliverables
  • Professional drafts overview and analysis of Organization’s strengths and weaknesses
  • Professional drafts overview and analysis of potential opportunities and threats
  • Draft of SWOT analysis created and delivered to the Volunteer Manager

  • Volunteer Manager provides feedback to the Professional on the draft
  • Professional incorporates feedback into the draft to create final version
