Project details

What we need
  • A compelling narrative, or set of stories
  • Persuasive copy that can be used in appeals to donors, annual reports, grant applications, and media relations
  • Popular examples: Organization's founding story, a program achievement or milestone, a look back at the past few years, organizational backgrounder, etc.
  • Note: This project is not intended to support your general content planning or marketing but there are several projects in our Marketing & Communications category which are a good fit!
What we have in place
  • We currently have a good news story to share about re-creating New Horizons, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have details about the successful transition to a Virtual Center, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $1,550 , allowing us to invest more in Virtual Center equipment

We need a polished "good news" story to place in the regional press. This will help New Horizons in a variety of ways--from maximizing community awareness and utilization of our free Virtual programs and essential services during the Pandemic, to helping us connect with volunteers. We hope that the story can also be re-tooled and shared with the funders who help make this magic happen.

Our mission

The mission of New Horizons Senior Center is to provide supportive programs and services that enable older adults to live independently in their own homes, form meaningful connections with others, and engage in lifelong learning.

What we do

New Horizons is passionate about keeping older adults independent, active and in their own homes. For over forty years our comprehensive wellness programs have helped thousands of seniors to age in place, stay fit, find purpose and remain connected to their communities. We are a unique non-profit organization that is run by 4 part-time staff and 174 volunteers!
Over the past 6 years we've tripled service utilization.
Last year, New Horizons served over 1,177 individual seniors by:
1. Providing excellent program and service opportunities that directly support our mission. Programs & Services were utilized 30,727 times!
2. Reaching out to connect seniors in the community to resources, benefits, and activities. This year we provided Information & Assistance 2,745 times!
3. Engaging an ambitious and dedicated corps of over 170 volunteers. This year our volunteer corps completed 7,219 Volunteer Hours! Their devoted service doubles our budget and our impact.
4. Providing a full-course daily lunch on a pay-what-you-can basis plus a variety of special catered events. Last year we served 5,501 Meals!
