Additional details

JCA Gorlitz Kensington Club, a social day program for older adults living with a diagnosis of early-stage memory loss, went virtual in March 2020. Prior, people lived at home and came to the Club for 4 hours then returned home. Now, we provide a plethora of activities and supports for them that anyone with a screen can take advantage of. We have an old brochure but we need to update so potential members and caregivers and our referral sources can view our new services (PCP, neurologists).

What we have in place
  • We currently have a brochure, A high-resolution logo and branding guide, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have new text but we may need to use stock photos, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to increase our contractors for our virtual groups (music and art therapy, therapeutic poetry teacher and adapted yoga instructor). It may allow us to offer reduced fees for those who cannot afford it.

We have reimagined Kensington Club. "Adult Day Care" is rebranding, so to speak. KC can no longer offer 100% caregiver respite, but we can STILL offer stimulating programs and social interaction to isolated older adults with memory loss who are distancing and are not "going out." This offers caregiver peace of mind.

Our mission

JCA provides the programs and services that support older adults and their families and builds bridges across generations.

JCA is:
*Built on the fundamental values of honoring our parents and strengthening our community.
*Committed to serving the Jewish community and people of all faiths and ethnicities regardless of their ability to pay.
*Person- and family-centered, and thus responsive to the specific needs, values and preferences of the individuals we serve and their families.
*A community partner with government, private funders, other nonprofits and for-profit businesses.
*Driven by the spirit, commitment and hard work of our volunteers and staff.

What we do

At JCA, it's all about aging!

JCA represents something different to every person we proudly serve.

To the isolated senior with no means of getting around, we are a smiling ElderBus driver who cheerfully helps with canes, walkers and wheelchairs and even carries packages with a smile.

To the concerned family member suddenly faced with overwhelming health or home care issues, we are the confident voice of an information specialist who understands precisely the services needed to care for a beloved parent or spouse and can access our unique, comprehensive database to find needed resources close to home.

For the senior who is frail or suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other challenges, we are a safe and caring place that provides dignified assistance at adult day centers that are second to none.

To the older job seeker, we are a friend, advocate, teacher and guide.

JCA is all of this and so much more!

We are vibrant intergenerational programs that build bridges and shatter stereotypes as they help young students succeed in school and life. We are different faces in various places -- but united in our mission of helping local seniors experience the positive side of aging while making the National Capital Area a great place to age.

Testimonials

From the beginning of the project, Anya asked questions about design ideas for our brochure (for a very specific reimagined virtual program) and gave us choices (that we didn't know he had --as far as images for this project). She grasped the concept right away and that first draft was eye-catching. She drafted three "looks" so we could pick the design that we thought customers would be drawn to. She was so quick to respond and worked over the weekend to meet a tight deadline. She adhered to our style guide color palette and logo and never prioritized aesthetics over what we were asking for. She took our feedback without question. What stood out (besides an excellent final brochure) was that Anya showed us she was a team player and a really nice human being. I would highly recommend her services and skills as a graphic designer.
