Additional details
We are developing a 5-year strategic plan and need an environmental scan that tells us more about the community we serve, our position in it, and our ability to address needs/problems for our beneficiaries.
What we have in place
- We have a SWOT analysis and the scaffolding of a good strategic plan. Now we need to take an in-depth look at the metro Atlanta area to tailor our plans to what the community needs.
How this will help
This project will save us $10,948 , allowing us to host a safe retreat for families of children with disabilities with outdoor recreation and a reassuring sense of community.
This project will help us complete a 5-year strategic plan that will help us achieve our mission of making life better for Atlanta children with disabilities.

Our mission
At FOCUS, our mission is to embrace and equip families of children with disabilities to make everyday life better.
What we do
Forty years ago, Atlanta parents of children with multiple disabilities had no place to turn for reassurance and support. Two families formed Families of Children under Stress, Inc., a nonprofit that provided support groups and hospital visits. After 35 years of growth and two mergers, the organization, now known as FOCUS, provides a host of critical resources for 4,500 families including community support groups, hospital visits, parent training, accessible camps and activities, and medical equipment.
Testimonials
Shubham worked diligently with the FOCUS team to evaluate and project the Atlanta demographic/economic market for the coming five years. He also interpreted the scant internal data we had and made suggestions for better ways to capture the data in the future. He introduced us to Tableau, which may be a useful analytical tool for us as we collect more pertinent data. We are especially appreciative that Shubham persevered and continued to see the project through, despite preparing for his own out-of-state job move.
It was definitely a great learning experience. Focus has had great success in the past, supporting communities of greater Atlanta and I'm just glad that I was able to be a part of their vision and help them set up for the changing future by providing insights using the power of data and analytics. Joy was literally a "joy" to work with and Brian was amazing in his knowledge of data regarding focus events. Huge amounts of opportunities there to become more efficient and far reaching. Can't wait to see how focus evolves! Thank you again for this great opportunity!
