Project details

What we need
  • A compelling narrative, or set of stories
  • Persuasive copy that can be used in appeals to donors, annual reports, grant applications, and media relations
  • Popular examples: Organization's founding story, a program achievement or milestone, a look back at the past few years, organizational backgrounder, etc.
  • Note: This project is not intended to support your general content planning or marketing but there are several projects in our Marketing & Communications category which are a good fit!
Additional details

2021 will be our 10-year anniversary. Our activities have been mostly focused around promoting and supporting arts organizations and artists in our region, but not telling our own story. We have supported and helped WNY's creative community, especially in response to COVID-19, but other than those who directly benefit from our programming and grant funding, very few know about us and what we do.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a list and explanation of all our services/programs, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have examples of past promotional and grant narratives, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,397 , allowing us to focus those funds on direct public programs, such as our Arts Access program which helps low-income families and individuals access the arts for free or at a low cost.

From our start in 2011, we have spent the majority of our efforts promoting and supporting the artists and organizations in our region rather than highlighting what we do for and can offer to the community. Being able to better tell our story and our impact on WNY's arts industry will help us in grant writing, media coverage, and in building new relationships. These will, in turn, give us more resources to support the arts community in our region and fulfill our mission.

Our mission

Arts Services Initiative (ASI) empowers the region's artists and arts organizations with connections to funding, learning opportunities, and community access to the arts. We are a resource hub for the Western New York arts and cultural sector.

ASI envisions a region where inclusive creative communities are valued and visible, and where artists and arts organizations have access to the resources needed to advance and thrive.

What we do

We provide services and resources to nonprofit arts groups and individual artists to help them advance the business side of the art world and span their careers, whether just starting out or advanced.

Some programs include funding, professional development, financial services, arts access to the wider community, and advocacy efforts.
