Project details

What we need
  • A compelling narrative, or set of stories
  • Persuasive copy that can be used in appeals to donors, annual reports, grant applications, and media relations
  • Popular examples: Organization's founding story, a program achievement or milestone, a look back at the past few years, organizational backgrounder, etc.
  • Note: This project is not intended to support your general content planning or marketing but there are several projects in our Marketing & Communications category which are a good fit!
Additional details

Our focus for this project is to improve and refresh some of our grant language. We are looking for support for a staff member who is new to grant writing and hope to work with someone who has grant writing experience and a good track record with writing successful grants. We would love to get an outside perspective on how we currently tell our story.

What we have in place
  • We currently have many examples of successful grant applications, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have our current grant writer on staff who will participate, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,397 , allowing us to dedicate more money to our program. This amount covers a full year of intensive counseling and material support for a young person experiencing homelessness.

This project will help serve as a professional development opportunity for our staff member who is taking on more responsibilities with ATC's grant program and looking to build storytelling and grant writing skills. After almost 23 years and many years of successful fundraising, ATC is looking to expand our program and find new foundation partners. It will be beneficial for us to hear other ways we can successfully tell our story and describe our impact.

Our mission

The mission of At The Crossroads is to reach out to homeless youth and young adults at their point of need, and work with them to build healthy and fulfilling lives.

What we do

Our innovative model focuses on young people who do not access traditional services and are disconnected from any type of consistent support. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. We remove common barriers to service by bringing our counselors onto the streets, and shaping our support services around the needs of each individual client. Our goal is to help our clients build outstanding lives, not just lives of subsistence.

We accomplish our mission through a combination of nighttime street outreach and one-on-one counseling, and collaboration with other service providers. We walk the streets of the Mission and Downtown San Francisco at nighttime, bringing help to our clients, rather than making them come to us. We help our clients with anything and everything they need, providing unconditional support for as long as they need to build the lives they want. We partner and advocate to make sure that there is an accessible, culturally competent continuum of care that will provide our clients with the opportunities to realize their dreams.

Testimonials

Cristina was so wonderful to work with! She was incredibly thorough and thoughtful in helping us review our grant materials. She offered great suggestions and did a lot of research to understand what our work was about prior to helping us. She always communicated clearly and followed through on her promised timeline. I would recommend Cristina to anyone who is wanting support around writing.
