Logo Design & Visual Brand Identity
Logo Design & Visual Brand Identity
Project details
What we need
- Consultation regarding the Organization's current branding and desired branding objectives
- Visual branding guidelines / style guide that include specific colors, fonts, and other graphic design elements to use in print and digital communications materials
- High-resolution logo delivered electronically (in formats for digital and print use)
Additional details
We are developing a new initiative called the Washtenaw County Writing Center for Secondary Students. This is a partnership between Skyline High School in Ann Arbor, MI and Eastern Michigan University's Office of Campus and Community Writing and its community writing center, YpsiWrites. Since this is a new initiative we need a logo and visual branding to appeal to all of our stakeholders.
What we have in place
- We currently have examples of logos and target audiences, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a description of the initiative, its components & audiences, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,906 , allowing us to invest back into the actual programming -- what we are going to offer schools, teachers, and students. We are offering virtual writing support for middle & high school students throughout the county.
We need to create a unique and appealing identity for this new project -- something that will appeal to our stakeholders, which include middle and secondary students, teachers, and schools in relation to writing and literacy support. We also need strong and identifiable branding in order to appeal to potential donors and supporters.

Our mission
Everyone is a writer, we believe, or has the potential to be a one. YpsiWrites provides a needed home for writers of all ages to find their voices, their purposes, and their audiences, and to find joy in writing.
What we do
YpsiWrites is a collaboration between Eastern Michigan University's Office of Campus & Community Writing, 826michigan, and the Ypsilanti District Library. We support writers of all ages working on any kind of writing--memoirs, resumes, business plans, stories, poems, letters, brochures, and many others. Writers can work one-to-one with tutors during our drop-in hours at the Ypsilanti District Library. They can also attend workshops on a variety of writing topics (poetry, zines, resumes) and special writing events (love-letter writing for Valentine's Day). Additionally, YpsiWrites partners with schools and organizations across southeast Michigan to support all writers through special programs and initiatives.
Testimonials
Working with Dolan was amazing. When we interviewed Dolan we were so impressed with his process, which he very clearly laid out and which made him the clear choice for our project, a logo design for a new county-wide writing center for secondary students. Dolan captured and conveyed the essence of our initiative in the logo he designed. He did this by following a step-by-step process in which he solicited key information from us, including what he called our "northstar words". He was a careful listener, and he asked terrific clarifying questions. After learning about our mission and focus, he developed mood boards that we responded to, and he was very in tune with our responses. He then used our response to develop a color scheme and two initial logos. He hit it with the first one! It was incredible. We loved it from the moment we saw it, and we already have gotten incredibly positive feedback from everyone with whom we've shared it. This experience far exceeded our expectations, and Dolan's creativity, professionalism, and thoughtfulness were amazing. Additionally, he was personable, fun, and incredibly easy to work with. This was a highly enjoyable and satisfying experience and project. We are very grateful, both to Catchafire and to Dolan.
Working with the team behind YpsiWrites was amazing. They were thoughtful and responsive with their feedback, and listened well to my ideas and expertise. Lastly, they were tremendously friendly and fun throughout the process.
