Additional details
We are launching a regional virtual network this summer to connect scientists, community leaders, students, storytellers, and researchers working on Arctic migrations - the movement of people, species, ecosystems, economies, and cultures. We would like to create a Slack for Arctic Migration Network members to share opportunities, ideas, articles, and ask for questions ahead of webinars we host. And we do not know where to start!
What we have in place
- We currently have a dedicated staff person who is familiar with Slack, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a Network working plan that includes starter content, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $668 , allowing us to provide travel stipends for early career and traditional knowledge holders to attend our workshops
We want to build an inclusive network where members feel welcomed and comfortable to contribute, ask questions, and seek support. Creating a Slack channel for network members would help us build such a space for everyone to collaborate and generate sustainable and just research ideas for the Arctic!
Project plan
Our mission
TAI envisions a world in which the Arctic’s diverse and complex sources of insecurity are identified, understood, and innovatively resolved. We hope to achieve this by informing Arctic policy across the circumpolar region through objective, multidisciplinary, and innovative social science research. We do this through publishing high-quality, open access research on a range of issues relating to security in the High North; providing innovative policy analysis and recommendations to policymakers a
What we do
The Arctic Institute is an independent international institute dedicated to research of and engagement in the many dimensions of Arctic insecurity. Established in 2011, TAI provides data, analysis, and recommendations to policymakers, researchers, media, and the interested public. Based in Washington, DC, TAI’s network of research associates extends across North America, Scandinavia, and the European Union.
Testimonials
Linda was an incredible professional that I would highly recommend any organization hire or partner with to help set up a virtual community through chat set-up and training. Linda helped The Arctic Institute's Migration in Harmony Network set up a Slack channel for network members by creating a research outline to best meet member's needs, roadmap, vision, step-by-step implementation plan, and created the Slack channel itself. Linda was focused, insightful, creative, and compassionate, and we could not have asked for a better professional to work with.
