What we need
- Thorough review of the existing communication and marketing materials to ensure writing is understandable, engaging and consistent
- Edits conducted with respect to writing style, voice, length, and proper spelling and grammar
- Revised materials should adhere to branding, communications and marketing goals
Additional details
We are looking for an experienced communications professional who is locally based to help us deliver:
1. Develop three original training sessions focused on email communication, meeting management and strategy communication with a special focus on conflict resolution
2. Implement these trainings by hosting a series of 60-minute sessions on a rotating, quarterly basis.
3. Identify one new training opportunity for the communications team to explore.
4. Commit to five 1-on-1 mentoring sessions
What we have in place
- In 2019, we undertook a comprehensive survey of employees to understand the existing communications culture and thoughtfully consider areas of improvement. During the year, we implemented several solutions, including a monthly management briefing with key institutional initiatives and a commitment to partner with any department who sought our help on disseminating key information.
We also have a communications strategy plan, communications handbook and branding guidelines
How this will help
This project will save us $3,002 , allowing us to work more efficiently towards our mission
The communications volunteer will leverage his/her experience in communications to inspire employees to value their role as institutional ambassadors by virtue of their position, areas of focus will include email best practices, presentation and meeting communication, business collaboration, and in some cases, trainings in media opportunities. Each 60-minute session will inspire staff to think creatively about their work, empower them with skills.

Our mission
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center bears solemn witness to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993. Respecting this site made sacred through loss, the Memorial and Museum remembers and honors the nearly 3,000 victims of these attacks and all those who risked their lives to save others. It recognizes the thousands who survived and all who manifested extraordinary compassion in the wake of the attacks, and demonstrates the consequences of terrorism on individual lives and its impact on communities.
