Additional details
Pomperaug District Dept of Health has partnered with two neighboring health districts under the umbrella of Regional Opioid Alliance & Data Sharing (ROADS), in order to tackle the opioid epidemic sweeping this region of CT. We're working with a multitude of community coalitions in order to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and provide treatment options/resources for people with substance use disorder (SUD). We need a logo and a ROADS brochure for first responders to handout.
What we have in place
- We currently have a list of suitable ROADS resources., which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have connections to community partners to distribute brochures., and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to apply more resources (staff time) toward additional community health programs. Also, we feel that a professionally-produced logo (and supplemental materials) will bolster buy-in.
We've been awarded grant monies for this project, but our goals exceed our budget! The ROADS Initiative aims to raise awareness and reduce overdose deaths in this region. There are various "tools" used to disseminate information to the loved ones of overdose victims; we'd like to coalesce the info into something user-friendly. Ideally, our brochure will lead people toward the treatment options they so desperately need. Moving forward, we'd like to use the ROADS "brand" for additional programs
Project plan
Our mission
Pomperaug Health District is a governmental entity providing full-time public health services to all the citizens of our member communities. The focus of the District is to provide essential programs in Environmental Health, Community Health Promotion, and Disease Surveillance and Control. These efforts will assure our residents of a healthy community environment, aide in preventing disease, and promote health through screening and health education.
What we do
Pomperaug District Department of Health (PDDH) is the local health department for the three towns of
Oxford, Southbury, and Woodbury, CT. PDDH's mission is to improve the health and well-being of nearly 50,000 constituents, while enforcing the CT Public Health Code.
PDDH's services include: environmental health protection; reportable disease control; and community health promotion. Grant funding from CT Community Foundation has enabled the Pomperaug Community Health team to deliver an array of programs, with a particular emphasis on older adults striving to age gracefully at home.
Additionally, Pomperaug and its "ROADS" partners are heavily involved in addressing the ongoing opioid crisis, sweeping the nation. The suburban towns in western CT have been especially hard-hit, evidenced by overdose deaths in young and old alike.
