Project details
What we need
- An easily understood visual aid that communicates complex information
- A high-resolution version of the Infographic in the Organization’s preferred format
Additional details
We would like a school fact sheet to use for donors that tells our statistics. For instance, a 100% college acceptance rate. Median family income is $30,000 and tuition is $12,000 to $17,000 therefore 90% of our students are on tuition assistance. Also interested in showing the number of hours that our students would have to travel by boat each day if they did not attend our school on our island. In addition, we would love to showcase our racial and ethnic diversity.
What we have in place
- We currently have statistics gathered and a simple fact sheet for donors, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have statistics and facts on what we would like used, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to put more resources to student scholarships and hurricane repairs.
Following two category-5 hurricanes in the Caribbean in 2017, the U.S. Virgin Islands experienced an economic downturn and our school opened its doors to 85 public school students. We committed to providing them financial assistance and now we procure donations to help them continue their education. We are the only high school on our island, and students that do not attend our school must travel daily by boat. Therefore, we would like an infographic that helps us with donations and admissions.
Project plan
Our mission
Our mission is to educate, challenge, support, and empower students to ignite their passion for learning in preparation for college, careers, and their roles as stewards of our island and global community.
We are committed to academic rigor through experiential learning and compassionate community in our enriched environment.
What we do
Gifft Hill School is the only preschool-12th grade on St. John, USVI. After the two Category-5 hurricanes Irma and Maria, Gifft Hill waived tuition for both our current students and any students from other schools that had been damaged or destroyed. Our commitment to education on St. John allowed students to try to return to a sense of normalcy, affording their parents the opportunity to rebuild their lives and island. Now we educate 1 in 3 children on St. John, USVI and 90% of our students receive financial assistance. We are becoming a National Wildlife Federation Eco-school.
