Project details

What we need
  • A concise, well-articulated letter (not exceeding two pages) to request funds from individual donors
Additional details

As we start 2020, we have several funding goals including diversifying our revenue sources, expanding our donor base, and sustaining a high level of donor retention. We would love your help with creating a general ask donor letter for the new year. We have several compelling parent success stories that we share on our website as well.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a three-year strategic plan, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have our end of year appeal (as well as other appeals in 2019), and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,140 , allowing us to serve even more low-income families as they navigate their school choice options. As the education landscape continues to change, the need for our programs and services is greater than ever.

This project ensures that Families Empowered will have the funding it needs to build internal capacity and achieve its strategic goals.

Our mission

Although families in major cities in Texas have multiple school options available to them beyond their zoned school, a variety of barriers make it very difficult for families, especially resource-constrained families and those with limited English proficiency, to understand their options and exercise school choice. These barriers include lack of parent-friendly information about various types of schools and how to compare them, multiple application processes with different deadlines, and language barriers, among others.

Families Empowered's goal is for ALL families to have access to schools that work, for them.

Testimonials

Ruth was incredibly professional and truly captured the heart of our organization and the voice of our parents that we serve! We hope to collaborate with her again in the future as she was very efficient and easy to work with...we would highly recommend Ruth for future projects!

Individual Donor Letter Project

I have so much respect for the work of Families Empowered, and for their impact in helping every Texan family exercise school choice. Working with Deanna and Colleen was a wonderful experience--from their strong vision and mission, to their replete portfolio of previous fundraising and publicity material, and also the so many truly moving testimonials from families they've helped. If you're a volunteer considering working with them--DO. They are kind, intelligent, unpretentious, giving souls, and their mission is truly special and important. I really value my experience working with Families Empowered.
