Online Research
Project details
What we need
- A compilation of research on a specific topic (e.g. industry best practices, literature review, media contacts, industry trends, etc.) including a list of sources
- Recommendations on areas for further exploration/research
- Note: This project is not designed to be used for prospect or grant research
Additional details
Literature review on benefit cost analysis on pursuing a school/cafeteria free of plastic model in Mexico. Best examples of schools/cafeterias free of plastic in Mexico. What works and what does not work? What federal, state (Baja California) and municipal (Mexicali) government programs exist to support such initiatives in Mexico?
What we have in place
- We currently have several articles of interest, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a potential school to get use of plastic data from, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,409 , allowing us to implement on-the-ground activities and perhaps helping the school purchase some of the reusable silverware for their cafeteria.
The literature review will be an input in the initial assessment that we will conduct in a school in Mexicali, BC, Mexico. The assessment will have a benefit cost analysis section that would identify whether or not the benefits for the school to eliminate plastic in the cafeteria outweigh the cost (e.g. investing on reusable plates/forks, soap, water, etc.). We will present the results to the school and advocate for the school to eliminate the use of plastic in their cafeteria.
Project plan
Our mission
The Sonoran Institute's mission is to connect people and communities with the natural resources that nourish and sustain them.
What we do
We work at the nexus of commerce, community, and conservation to help people in the North American West build the communities they want to live in while preserving the values which brought them here. We envision a West where civil dialogue and collaboration are hallmarks of decision making, where people and wildlife live in harmony, and where clean water, air, and energy are assured.
