Website Construction (CMS-Based)
Website Construction (CMS-Based)
Project details
What we need
- Development of a new website using a Content Management System (CMS)
- Training to ensure Organization's staff members can update content and manage the site post-launch
- Note: This project is for a website built with a Content Management System (CMS), such as Wordpress, Squarespace, Joomla, Drupal, or Weebly . A CMS-based website can be maintained and updated easily (no coding required!)
Additional details
We have an existing website (www.schoolhouserocks5k.com) that was created a few years ago by a volunteer that is no longer connected with the org. The CMS (Wix) is under her loggin. The URL www.schoolhouserocks5k.org is available - and I'd like the existing website to be re-built (with a refreshed look & feel) on Squarespace with the new URL.
What we have in place
- We currently have a Squarespace account and all content ready, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have lots of design materials (photos, logos, etc.), and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $16,822 , allowing us to ensure that the most funding can be granted to the school district we support, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience is provided to all 3,000 K-8 students.
Currently - having this website on a different CMS with a loggin that is not connected to our org and that has a .com URL is difficult to manage. We are always looking for ways to streamline our workload since we are a small (but mighty!) non-profit. By helping us create the new website - we will ensure that it is easier for staff to manage in the future and with a .org URL our users will know it is connected to our non-profit.
Project plan
Our mission
Established in 1982, the Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation (MPAEF) seeks to enable the Menlo Park City School District (MPCSD) to provide an exceptional education to students at Laurel, Encinal, Oak Knoll, and Hillview schools. Working with parents, local businesses, community members, and the District, we raise money to pay for high-quality teachers, a comprehensive educational program, and teaching innovation beyond what is possible with public dollars alone.

I enjoyed working with Carrie on this fun project - very sorry that the event had to be cancelled (due to Covid). Please let me know if you'd like me to update the site for 2021's event.
