Project details

What we need
  • Evaluation of current programmatic needs and how a program plan can address them
  • Recommendations for an appropriate course of action to reach the desired objectives, including guidance on how to allocate resources and measure success
  • Plan that outlines the resources and steps required to reach short- and long-term goals
Additional details

My program, Community Reading Buddies, recruits middle and high school volunteers to read with PreK students over the summer to develop their reading and social-emotional skills. We have always said the program has a double impact: on the young students, and on the volunteers, who learn soft skills. However, it's been kind of passive up until now, and I need some guidance on how to make it more intentional within the scope of our program, including measuring impact.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a lot of information about the program, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a rough draft of a logical framework, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $6,775 , allowing us to serve more volunteers and more preK students in our program.

We want to make sure we are producing strong outcomes that have a large impact on our volunteers just as much as on our preK students. This project will help us envision that impact and set short- and long-term plans for implementation.

Our mission

Our mission is to advance educational equity in the Bay Area by delivering high-quality academic services to our youth and through our youth.

Our Mission Statement:

Aspire Education Project dedicates itself to the academic excellence of students in the San Francisco Bay Area through building relationships, encouraging academic engagement, and empowering those we teach to educate others.

What we do

1-on-1 Tutoring
Our dynamic corps of tutors work across the academic subject spectrum, securing academic success for the students they support. We are also trusted providers of Test Prep tutoring, and offer free proctored tests to all students. We distribute scholarships worth $30,000 each year to students who cannot afford market-rate tutoring.

Programs and Partnerships
We collaborate with schools and community organizations to provide educational support for the students who might otherwise slip through the cracks. Our programs support over 800 students with reduced-cost programs, classes and curricula each year.

Community Reading Buddies
Our flagship program has been connecting teen mentors with young readers in Oakland for 24 summers and counting. Its powerful youth-led model combats the enormous disparities in early literacy among the Bay Area's youngest residents.
