Project details

What we need
  • A document with detailed feedback and edits that ensures an Organization's business plan clearly defines its mission and approach, finance and operating structure, and tracks to key performance indicators
Additional details

Music Changing Lives, a non-profit organization centered around providing music and arts enrichment for at-risk and underserved youth, is looking for an individual who is able to review our franchise model for its clarity, structure, and content. As we hope to reach as many students as possible, Music Changing Lives would like to use this franchise model as a way to expand to new community centers and school sites.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a developed draft of our franchise model, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a full time staff member available to you for questions, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,828 , allowing us to focus more of our budget on our current students music and art supplies, snacks and beverages, printing materials, and resources for our annual Changing Lives Showcase performance competition.

Music Changing Lives is a growing 501(c)(3) organization non-profit organization currently located in Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and Sacramento. By refining and perfecting our franchise model, Music Changing Lives will have even more opportunities to expand to new locations and reach many more students in need. It will also provide us with an organized document explaining the structure of our organization understandable from outsider perspectives.

Program Development Specialist

Our mission

At Music Changing Lives, our mission is to offer the highest quality music and art enrichment programs paired with academic support to underprivileged and at-risk youth ages 5 and older. We work to improve their chances of achieving a positive and successful future and transform them into active and knowledgeable civic participants.

What we do

The Changing Lives Showcase is a 21-week afterschool enrichment program hosted directly on school campuses. The program focuses on increasing the district's graduation rates while providing a venue in which students can develop their artistic talents. Music, spoken word, creative arts, etc. are designed to draw out youth and their stories, which is the impetus for their purpose and priorities. Once youth identify their story, tell it - in whatever form they choose, then they can learn to give voice to the issues that matter to them and take action - which is the precipice from which they become civically engaged and want and know how to demand change. They begin to both identify their priorities, learn to organize and make a difference.

At the completion of the program, students who successfully achieve the program requirements are eligible to compete in a performing-arts competition to showcase their talents before their peers, family, friends, educators and community leaders and policymakers.
