Project details

What we need
  • A compelling narrative, or set of stories
  • Persuasive copy that can be used in appeals to donors, annual reports, grant applications, and media relations
  • Popular examples: Organization's founding story, a program achievement or milestone, a look back at the past few years, organizational backgrounder, etc.
  • Note: This project is not intended to support your general content planning or marketing but there are several projects in our Marketing & Communications category which are a good fit!
Additional details

We are looking for help capturing the experiences of our advisors in our first Advisory Team for the foundation, and telling the story about this process. This group (made up of young people with intellectual disabilities) reviewed a round of grant requests for the Foundation and helped inform our decision making about which nonprofits to award grants to.

What we have in place
  • We have some content from other pieces (draft article for publication, blog post), materials used to explain the program to advisors and their supporters, quotes and audio from Advisory Team meetings, and pictures from events.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,397 , allowing us to grant more money to the communities that we fund.

We will be able to use this story in our upcoming annual report. We could also draw on quotes from interviews for other pieces (social media, blog, etc).

Our mission

As grantmaker, partner, and advocate, the Tower Foundation strengthens organizations and works to change systems to improve the lives of young people with learning disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual disabilities.

What we do

The Tower Foundation is a family foundation that supports and collaborates with nonprofit organizations and community partners that share our mission of helping children, adolescents, and young people affected by intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health issues, and substance use disorders. Our work is focused in Western New York and Eastern Massachusetts, areas that are important to the Tower family.

Testimonials

Kim was wonderful to work with on this storytelling project. She was happy to coordinate interviews directly with the interview subjects, despite some scheduling difficulties on their end. The perspective that she took on the story is one that we could not have achieved ourselves. Her level or comfort and passion working with people with disabilities was a breath of fresh air. Kim is a great writer and the final piece is so well suited for our purposes. Thank you, Kim!
