Data Collection Plan
Data Collection Plan
Project details
What we need
- A set of key metrics to regularly track
- Spreadsheet tool to collect data on key metrics with accompanying tables and graphs for analysis
- Training for best practices on data collection
- Training on how to use the spreadsheet and analyze key metrics
- Note: This project does not include data entry or analysis
Additional details
Our organization uses Sign Up Genius (see: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0444a8a729a02-children) to register volunteers. We need to track these sign ups to understand our volunteer metrics and value add to our community and for our donors. We hope to find an easy way to track these metrics periodically. Our next step would be to get help analyzing the data.
What we have in place
- Our organization uses Sign Up Genius (see: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0444a8a729a02-children) to register volunteers who then volunteer in the community on volunteer jobs we have curated for them. Through Sign Up Genius we can generate reports which help us uncover some of the data. Due to the limitations of the information from which the report is generated, the report is missing some key information which will help us better understand our volunteer data.
How this will help
This project will save us $6,868 , allowing us to put these resources towards curriculum development which is, currently, the largest area in which we invest.
The information about the volunteers we generate for our greater community is key to helping our organization reach its fundraising goals, in helping us recognize our growth potential (expansion) and in building support within our community. We need this data to demonstrate our unique value-add.

Our mission
Children for Change empowers youth to become global change-makers with the knowledge, confidence, and empathy to make a positive impact in their world.
What we do
C4C offers student-driven curriculum on a variety of topics like climate change, housing inequity, and food justice. Students are engaged in curated volunteer opportunities with local nonprofits where they can apply their classroom knowledge in the real world. C4C students also advocate through letter writing, philanthropy simulations, and by speaking to local elected officials about issues that matter to them. C4C students tap their innate compassion and empathy in order to contribute to a more healthy community for all.
Testimonials
Donna was incredible helpful! She took raw data that we had collected from Sign Up Genius and was able to uncover so much useful information that will help us in many areas - expansion, fundraising and organizational growth. Donna produced an elaborate excel spreadsheet with pivot tables and other features that help us analyze our effectiveness to date. She also provided us with information to help with future data collection updates. We are incredibly grateful that she shared skillset - a skillset that is lacking on our small team.
