Project plan
Our mission
Nurturing a generation of African women leaders.
What we do
We invest talented young women from poor backgrounds to become transformative leaders by providing:
Direct financial assistance: This assistance includes comprehensive scholarships enabling brilliant but poor girls access to the top high schools they have qualified for but cannot afford to attend. We also provide seed funding and stipends to allow young women from marginalized communities to grow their social change projects to scale and sustainability.
Personalized and group mentoring: Akili Dada mentors are dedicated women committed to blazing the trail and supporting their younger sisters’ journeys to success. We are always looking for women willing to give of their time and share their experiences by mentoring our dadas.
Rigorous Leadership Skills Training: Our curriculum is based on a service learning pedagogy where young women learn how to lead by designing and driving social change projects in their marginalized home communities. Leadership Academies have emerged a favorite among our dadas.
