Project details

What we need
  • A compelling narrative, or set of stories
  • Persuasive copy that can be used in appeals to donors, annual reports, grant applications, and media relations
  • Popular examples: Organization's founding story, a program achievement or milestone, a look back at the past few years, organizational backgrounder, etc.
  • Note: This project is not intended to support your general content planning or marketing but there are several projects in our Marketing & Communications category which are a good fit!
Additional details

Our four main business lines - Consulting Services, Search Services, Learning & Leadership, and Volunteer Services - all need a compelling program achievement "story" to help reach their audiences.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a Director of Marketing & Communications, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have other staff with marketing experience, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,397 , allowing us to publish these powerful stories in various places (website, marketing materials, blogs, grant proposals).

We have so many powerful stories that haven't been shared yet with our communities. People respond to stories best, and telling our organizational stories will allow us to reach new people and demonstrate our impact as a nearly 60-year-old organization.

Our mission

We advance nonprofits and volunteerism by strengthening leadership, encouraging innovation and empowering individuals in our community.

What we do

Since 1964, the national award-winning Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) has advanced nonprofits and volunteerism by strengthening leadership, encouraging innovation, and empowering individuals throughout the Bay Area. Passion alone isn't enough when it comes to creating strong nonprofits. That's why we work with aspiring and established leaders every day to help them build the skills and connections that can take their impact to the next level. CVNL offers comprehensive programs including training, executive search, customized consulting solutions, and volunteer opportunities and programs for nonprofits, individuals, families, groups, and businesses. Our Heart of Marin(tm) and Heart of Napa(tm) events support nonprofits of every size and mission through recognition and cash awards. CVNL provides disaster preparedness training and serves as an Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC), overseeing spontaneous volunteers and donations for Napa and Marin Counties in the aftermath of a disaster. We believe that with confident and prepared leaders, our nonprofits will be better equipped to create healthy, happy communities.
