Project details

What we need
  • Review of job descriptions, pay structure, internal value, competitive market data, non-monetary rewards and benefits
  • Recommendations for updating staff compensation and incentive plans
Additional details

GBLS is a unionized program. We have salary scales for union staff but not for administrative staff who are not part of the union. Over time some of our salaries are not consistent with the market. I fear some staff are over-compensated and others are under-compensated.

What we have in place
  • We currently have an HR director and current salaries, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have some ideas of pay from other legal aid programs, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $6,746 , allowing us to use scarce resources to provide legal assistance to more indigent families to help them remove barriers preventing them from meeting their basic human needs such as shelter, food and safety

We are concerned that we do not have a benchmark for non-union staff and may lose folks if we are not close to market. If we have benchmarks it will help us to align salaries as well as justify salary increases to union staff

What we do

GBLS provides direct representation of low income people for civil legal matters. These cases include - but are not limited to - issues of housing, employment, accessing Social Security, disability and healthcare benefits, immigration, consumer debt, elder abuse, children's disability claims and assisting victims of domestic violence. In addition to direct service, GBLS advocates for legislative and administrative changes and policies that will benefit a wider range of people.
