Project details

What we need
  • Feedback on the current website’s layout, user functionality, mobile-friendliness, visual design, content, and other key features
  • Clear articulation of the Organization’s goals for the website
  • Recommendations for improvements to help achieve the Organization’s desired goals
  • Note: If you are looking for a more specific, in-depth audit of your website's design and usability, try our Website Usability Audit project
What we have in place
  • We are applying for a pro bono website re-do. If selected, we want to be well prepared with ideas and goals for updates and changes. Our staff will be able to discuss our website in depth with a volunteer conducting a website audit, as well as provide Google Analytics and other data, as requested.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,762 , allowing us to put those funds toward covering the cost of 3 concerts at a homeless shelter or recovery program.

Shelter Music Boston's website is chock full of content, but it could use a refreshed look, an eye for how content is organized and what messages are highlighted, and a more user friendly layout. If we are selected for a pro bono website re-do that we are applying for, this website audit will help our team identify the strengths and weaknesses of our current site so that we can develop goals and objectives for a new site.

Managing Director

Our mission

Shelter Music Boston presents classical chamber music concerts, of the highest artistic standards, in homeless shelters and other sheltering environments. Our goal is to promote community, creative interaction, respect, and therapeutic benefit. We believe all people deserve access to the dignity, creativity, and passion of classical music whether or not they have a home.

What we do

By producing live classical music concerts in homeless shelters, SMB applies a truly innovative approach to performing classical music and bringing a sense of humanity to individuals living on the margins. Our program serves to enrich the lives of audience members individually as well as to improve the dynamics of interactions in the shelter. In 2017 alone, SMB served more than 1,500 people in nearly 70 concerts. These concerts are the work of highly skilled professional musicians who have performed in concert halls around the world. Teams of two to four musicians, trained in our interactive concert model, are employed to deliver a full-length chamber music concert to our partner shelters. These near monthly visits (10 concerts in each shelter each year) create a sense of community built on the relationships developed between shelter guests, shelter staff, and our musicians. The impact is not merely about the actual performance but about what happens between the shelter guests, the music, and the musicians.
