Revenue Generation Plan
Revenue Generation Plan
Project details
What we need
- Assessment and recommendations for income-generating activities that will complement the Organization's current mission and existing programs
- Actionable steps necessary to implement recommendations, alongside estimates of upfront time and monetary investment required
- Identify challenges & potential risks in pursuing the plan
Additional details
We're looking for support in developing a fundraising plan for a newer organization working to make higher education more accessible for formerly incarcerated people. We are currently operating at UC Berkeley and are ready to scale our program to all the UC schools. Most of our funding currently comes from the state budget and foundations. We'd like to diversify our funding including getting funding from the UC system, more foundations and private donors.
What we have in place
- We currently have a list of donors & information about our programs and impact, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have other resources, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $10,242 , allowing us to offer services to currently and formerly incarcerated students trying to access higher education.
This project is important because our program only has one staff person serving hundreds of students. The impact of our work is profound - we're building a prison to university pipeline to transform the lives of those most impacted by mass incarceration. Our work is also transforming the way we think about public safety and recidivism. We are ready to scale our program and impact and need a fundraising strategy to support our growth.

Our mission
Berkeley Underground Scholars (BUS) is a non-profit organization that creates a pathway for formerly incarcerated and system impacted individuals into higher education. We are building a prison to university pipeline through recruitment, retention, and advocacy. Our continued success directly challenges the stigmas associated with our population. Our strategies and programs include the following:
