Website Visual Design
Website Visual Design
Project details
What we need
- A visual redo of the Organization's website
- Design direction based on Organization's desired branding and style preferences
- Mock-ups of key site pages
- Commitment to 2 phone calls with a developer to guide initial front-end coding work
- Note: We recommend this project for custom websites. If your site is built on a CMS platform like Wordpress or Squarespace that offers templates, you may not need this project. Check out our Website Content Plan project for help building a CMS-based website
What we have in place
- We have a website (https://www.lvg-ct.org/ dated but functioning), a logo (update/revise), a statement of our brand/positioning goals, a solid idea of the desired functionality, key site pages and UX, several existing literacy websites to point to for inspiration and guidance, existing marketing materials, ability to provide new copy for the site and a Board Member to serve as project coordinator who is web design knowledgeable and devoted to this project. We are very committed to this project!
How this will help
This project will save us $9,186 , allowing us to devote more funds to direct student services, such as 1) training & supplies for 20-30 new tutors, 2) 1 year of classes for 5-8 new ESL students, or 3) US citizenship classes for 10 students.
With a 15 year history, LVG has a devoted staff, dedicated volunteer tutors, enthusiastic students from dozens of countries and a reliable donor base but we lack a website that accurately portrays our strengths and identity and that can serve as the central communication tool for all we do. With an up-to-date website (and improved social media presence), we can better 1) communicate our values to our donors 2) keep tutors motivated and engaged, and 3) serve, retain and attract more ESL students.
Project plan
Our mission
Literacy Volunteers on the Green's vision is to help individuals maintain and improve their quality of life through mastery of the English language. We do this by promoting English literacy among individuals in Litchfield and Fairfield counties of Connecticut and surrounding areas to help them become independent readers, writers, listeners, and speakers of English through classes as well as natural, authentic, real-life activities and experiences.
Testimonials
Ariella did a fantastic job. She walked us through the steps required to get the deliverable we needed. Ariella listened to our functionality requirement for the site and our design ideas. She responded rapidly with on-point concepts and designs. As we refined our designs, she quickly turned our minor revisions around, so the project kept moving very rapidly. A week ago we started the implementation project with another Catchafire volunteer who was very complimentary of Ariella’s work and is implementing our design in WordPress. We are thrilled the outcome of our project with Ariella. Thanks to Ariella and Catchafire!
Working with Literacy Volunteers on The Green, and in particular, board member Kate Vick, was a true delight! They were incredibly clear on what their vision and goals were, and provided me with any materials I requested that would help me complete my job. Kate provided excellent feedback throughout our communications and gave me a lot of creative liberty. They were very open to my advice and guidance for designing a website that would be accessible and helpful to their users. What really stands out was how clear they were from start to finish on the scope of the project, and was really appreciated from my perspective. Finally, I got to learn about this amazing organization in the process, and the very important work they and their many volunteers do. I feel honored to have been able to contribute to this organization and would recommend working with LVG to any prospective Catchafire volunteers for future projects!
