Project details

Professional refines the Organization's program vision and values

Professional proposes strategic goals and objectives with tactics to reach those goals such as management process, team roles and assignments, constraints, assumptions, and high level timeline/deadlines

We are ready to get started on the strategic work starting August 1 and are flexible with this start date.

What we have in place
  • We currently have:
vision, mission round table with the board
    SWOT analysis with the staff
    preliminary feedback from our stakeholders
How this will help
This project will save us $6,775 , allowing us to further invest in our mission which includes providing programs to schools, care of 7 acres of greenspace, and diverse and enriching community classes and events.

Our organization was guided by a strategic plan from 2015-2018. We based our annual work plans on the strategic plan. It was instrumental in growing our organization to the next level. To ensure the viability of our organization, we need a comprehensive plan that guides the future direction of Wylde Center and acts as a mechanism that addresses the ongoing needs of the communities we serve. We would like a 5-10 year plan for longer term visioning.

Our mission

We are a membership based non-profit that has been an integral part of the community for over 20 years. We educate children at our gardens and in schools. We cultivate 5 greenspaces in Decatur and Atlanta; and we build community at our gardens through our year round programs and events.

What we do

Our special mix of hands-on environmental education, community programming and organic gardens inspires greener, healthier, more connected communities in metro Atlanta.

Environmental Education
* We bring the wonders and science of nature to 16,000 schoolchildren a year to create a more inclusive, better quality of life for us all.
* We lead by example, offering classes and expert coaching to show our neighbors how to preserve and protect our natural environment.

Community Programming
* We bring locally-grown food into schools and underserved communities to teach everyone about healthy eating.
* We bring neighbors together through our educational children's camps and community events that range from beer gardens and campfires to ice cream socials and concerts.

Gardens
* We maintain five different gardens - two in Atlanta and three in the Decatur area - as a year-round resource for local communities.
* We offer seven acres of magical places filled with Hobbit Houses, fairy gardens and wildlife for you to explore and connect with nature and neighbors.
