What we need
  • Setup of selected accounting software (e.g. Aplos, Araize)
  • Training and guidelines on how to manage system and generate basic reports
Additional details

Hi, we have a small budget ($20,000 or so) and I have been keeping account records in a free excel spreadsheet program I found online. In applying for grants this year, I realized funders expect standardized formats to document the orginazations financial status. I want to be able to meet those standards.

What we have in place
  • We currently have an excel file with all financials so you can assess our need, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have quick response times, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,409 , allowing us to use our limited funds for program work

I applied for many grants and if we actually get some, we will have more funds to manage and will need to produce more reports.

Prep: Information Sharing
  • Volunteer Manager shares detailed description of existing financial record keeping and financial reporting system
  • Professional makes recommendations on accounting system reports to address the Organization's needs
  • Note: If necessary, Volunteer Manager may have Volunteer sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to sharing and discussing Organization’s financial information

Milestone 1: Implementation
  • Professional conducts financial data migration
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager check accuracy of migration
  • Professional sets up account admin privileges for Organization’s designated admin users

Milestone 2: Training & Handover
  • Professional provides basic training for Volunteer Manager and supporting staff for tracking and reporting needs including guidelines for continued use of system
  • Professional reviews above guidelines and tips with Volunteer Manager
  • Professional is available for up to two weeks to address questions as Volunteer Manager starts to adopt new bookkeeping system

Our mission

Healthy Climate Communities (HCC) is committed to community education and action in Hawaii to fight climate change. HCC has been an all-volunteer effort since 2015. HCC hosts school and community groups to plant a native Hawaiian forest on the watershed of a State wetland with 4 species of endangered waterbirds. HCC conducts workshops for schools and community groups. HCC is developing place-based NGSS science curriculum units focused on climate change for elementary, middle and high school for teachers in Hawaii to use themselves. HCC also lobbies the State legislature to support renewable energy.
