Additional details
We are a non-profit working in our local underserved community in the area of education. We are not a school, so it has been difficult to develop metrics to show our impact and successes. We have used a variety of methods, but are looking to review and refine what we have and devise a possible portfolio method to use on our website and be able to share with potential funders.
What we have in place
- We currently have Staff, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have A variety of products from our work with youth, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $10,240 , allowing us to Provide continued services to the underserved youth we work with.
We need to be able to share successes with donors in order to continue our successful work and fundraising.
Project plan
Our mission
The mission of ForWords Literacy Lab is to provide 21st century literacy skills necessary for success in academics and in the work world. ForWords brings literacy development programs to underserved first generation students and their schools in the San Francisco Bay Area.
What we do
We provide both community and in-school programs in middle and high schools. Through classroom study and field experiences, we explore social, economic, and political causes of educational inequity in order to provide enriched English Language Literature curricula paired with technology and the arts. We work closely with classroom teachers to make sure these programs are sustainable and are aligned with the academic requirements of our local schools.
Testimonials
Alan has left the project due to our organization not being as prepared to send him all of the information he needed to get moving on it. We got behind in our work with other projects so this one took back seat. We appreciate his letting us know that he would prefer to drop out. Not a problem-it actually helped to spur us on!
