What we need
  • A press kit that includes: Organization mission and vision statement, historical information about the Organization, description & purpose of event, logistical information about event, logos and visual assets, and contact information for the appropriate staff member at the Organization
  • Recommendations on how to build relationships with the media
Additional details

We are looking for a press kit. Initially, this will be used for our 30th Anniversary Gala, but we would like it to be editable so that it can be adapted for events during our next season.

What we have in place
  • We currently have promotional materials and fact sheets, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have examples of past work, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $1,222 , allowing us to support a SRLA team next season.

Our future success will rely on our ability to share our story with a larger audience. Increase PR efforts will help make this happen.

Prep: Distribution of Prep Materials
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager connect to discuss the Organization's goals for media coverage, and agree on a detailed scope of work for the press kit (e.g., what documents are needed)
  • Volunteer Manager provides background information, such as mission and vision statement, historical information about the Organization, bios of senior staff, and event details

Milestone 1: First Draft
  • Professional drafts a press release for upcoming event
  • Professional makes edits to any existing press kit materials or drafts new versions, as needed
  • Professional provides draft press kit materials to Volunteer Manager for review and feedback

Milestone 2: Final Draft
  • Professional presents the final version of the press kit materials in electronic format, with instructions for how to arrange the printed version of the documents in a folder
  • Professional provides recommendations for how to use the press kit to meet the Organization's goals for media coverage on event

Each year, SRLA welcomes more than 3,200 middle and high school students at 185 public schools and community programs across Greater Los Angeles to train alongside their teachers to complete the entire Los Angeles Marathon.
