What we need
  • A high-resolution digital version of an illustration that can be used across multiple channels (web, print, and/or merchandising)
Additional details

Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle is a grassroots think tank in Baltimore. We're launching an online learning platform and content hub, New Timbuktu, to centralize our knowledge efforts and create an online learning community.

For the website, we are looking for a new book cover for our book, The Black Book, a text about organizing and politics from a radical Black perspective. We're looking to sell the book as an ebook so we want a cover which will be appealing and introduce the content.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a document full of ideas for a new cover, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have staff tasked with corresponding with catchafire volunteers, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to reinvest in our website's knowledge production efforts and organizing work, including our podcast, and recruiting more authors to write for our site.

The Black Book is a text we wrote to explain the political organizing and academic theories we use in our work.

By getting a new cover we're hoping to be able to expose more people to our work and help raise funds to continue our activism.

  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with relevant background information on the Organization, mission, and core values

Milestone 1: Brainstorm
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager meet to discuss goals, target audience, and how the illustration will be utilized
  • Volunteer Manager and Professional align expectations for the initial drawings and agree upon a timeline

Milestone 2: Preliminary Sketching
  • Professional drafts and presents three concepts for the Organization’s illustration
  • Volunteer Manager chooses a favorite concept and provides up to two rounds of feedback, which the Professional uses to refine the Illustration

Milestone 3: Presentation of Deliverables
  • Professional delivers a final version of the Illustration in digital form
