Employee Handbook
Employee Handbook
Project details
What we need
- Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
- Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
Additional details
We have created what I would call a strong rough draft of our employee policy manual. I would love to get a review of what we have currently put together, as well as some advice on how to make the information succinct as it may relate to employees of one department but not another.
What we have in place
- We currently have a strong rough draft policy, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a Business Manager who is generally quick to respond, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to provide 13 additional full tuition waivers to low-income students for our after-school theatre programs.
Our organization has grown exponentially over the last 2-3 years. Whereas we previously primarily had seasonal employees, we now have a year-round staff in 3 different programmatic departments. We do our best to apply policies in a streamlined and consistent fashion, but without a written policy it becomes easy to deviate as people ask for exceptions to rules that have never been fully clarified or communicated. This project will allow us to be both more compliant and transparent.
Project plan
Our mission
With Shakespeare as our endless inspiration, our mission is to serve as a vibrant catalyst for cultural engagement, education, and social justice to benefit the people of Marin County, the San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond.
What we do
The programs we provide are:
ON STAGE
Professional mainstage productions and performances by the Returned Citizens Theatre Troupe
EDUCATION
Shakespeare and theatre education, with a focus on schools serving low-income families
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Working in 13 California state prisons as the leading provider of Shakespeare in Prison programs in the world
In Progress: We are in the middle of a capital campaign to renovate our outdoor amphitheatre and build a year-round indoor Performing Arts & Education Center in downtown San Rafael.
Testimonials
Entering into this project, my biggest concern was that the final product would be either legally compliant but totally stodgy, or user-friendly but still leave a lot of questions. Linda did so much fine-tuned detail work - engaging in her professional networks as well as asking crucial questions of me - that our Employee Manual is one that I feel truly represents the best of our organization: caring, perhaps even sometimes folksy, while still focused on running a well-structured business. I'm so thankful to her that, after years of this project getting back-burnered as we hoped to find someone to help us clean up our working manual, we have a final product that I'll be proud to show employees as part of their welcome to the organization.
