Additional details
Our annual Day at the Capitol is on April 10th at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford. We are looking for a photographer to take photos throughout the event. Ideally photos would capture the energy and excitement of our volunteers as they join us to meet with lawmakers.
What we have in place
- We currently have examples of photos from previous years, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have an outline of what to expect throughout the event, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,458 , allowing us to advocate for a bill to increase the tobacco sale age in Connecticut to 21. Increasing the sale age will help keep tobacco and e-cigarettes out of the hand of Connecticut kids.
Our Day at the Capitol is a annual event where cancer survivors, caregivers and advocates join us in Hartford to make their voices heard. This year volunteers will be joining us to ask lawmakers increase the tobacco sale age from 18 to 21, which will help protect Connecticut youth from a lifetime of nicotine addiction.
By capturing the event you will help us build momentum beyond the single day, hopefully helping secure passage of the bill.
Project plan
Our mission
If we are to succeed in our mission to end suffering and death from cancer, it won't just happen in the doctor's office or research lab. This movement must start at the statehouse and in Congress. And, it will be led by volunteers - regular people whose lives have been impacted by cancer - rallying together to demand change from their elected officials.
What we do
We are the organization empowering volunteers to do just that - influence change and impact the future of cancer. From gaining dramatic increases in funding for cancer research to ensuring all Americans have access to cancer care, our work is saving lives and leading to new innovative breakthroughs in how to fight this disease.
