What we need
  • Customized and professionally designed graphic(s) for social media (i.e. Facebook cover images, Instagram posts, Pinterest graphics, etc.)
  • Training on how to create and customize graphics using free design tools/apps
Additional details

Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle is a grassroots thinktank in Baltimore. In order to better organize and promote our knowledge production activities (books, podcasts, written material) we're launching a new website, New Timbuktu. The goal is to aggregate thought on economic development, police/prison abolition, Black academic thought, and nonprofit industrial complex.

These are hard concepts to capture visually, so we're looking for help with Canva templates, facebook graphics & Instagram posts.

What we have in place
  • We currently have mock up for our website, logo, & a doc full of graphic ideas, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have staff for corresponding with catchafire volunteers, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,607 , allowing us to invest more money in podcast hosting, allowing us to host longer podcasts and get us closer to building the capacity we need to pay authors and build our learning community

We're looking to content marketing for our new website, so having graphics and templates would help us save money on paid advertisements and allow us to invest more resources and time into producing educational content, like our podcast and the long form analysis were hoping will become the trademark of our new website.

Prep: Distribution of Prep Materials
  • Volunteer Manager shares with Professional the intended social media platform(s) where graphics will be posted, ideas for copy, and images to include in the graphics (if any)
  • Volunteer Manager and Professional discuss the objective of the social media graphic, key audiences, and visual branding guidelines (if applicable)
  • Volunteer Manager shares examples of graphics or memes they like with the Professional

Milestone 1: Preliminary Design
  • Professional drafts three graphics using different themes to share with the Volunteer Manager
  • Volunteer Manager chooses one draft as a primary theme and provides feedback

Milestone 2: Graphic Creation
  • Professional provides Volunteer Manager with first draft of graphic
  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with up to three rounds of feedback

Milestone 3: Final Graphic Delivered and Training
  • Professional delivers final version of the graphic and explains how to upload image(s) to the Organization’s chosen social media platform(s)
  • Professional trains Volunteer Manager how to create and customize graphics
