What we need
  • Review of current board policies and procedures
  • Documents that establish strong governance practices
  • New or revised policies that clearly define the role of the board and its relationship to the Organization
Additional details

We are interested in revising our Board Orientation packet to be sure we cover best practices. We are considering restructuring our committees to reduce the number to better engage board members.

What we have in place
  • We currently have an existing Board Orientation packet, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have existing committee descriptions, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,516 , allowing us to put those funds towards our youth development programming.

We have just reached out 10-year milestone and will be bringing on 6 new board members so we want to ensure that they receive proper training and introduction to our organization.

Prep: Provide Current Materials
  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with the board of directors’ current governance practices, structure, policies and procedures, as well as a list of current board members
  • Volunteer Manager identifies which board members or other staff are available for interviews (if required)

Milestone 1: Research
  • Professional connects with Volunteer Manager for a brainstorming/overview session
  • Professional reviews any issues arising from current policies and procedures

Milestone 2: Evaluation
  • Professional conducts surveys and interviews with key stakeholders
  • Professional reviews relevant materials regarding the board’s performance, structure, policies and procedures
  • Professional drafts the board’s structure, policies and procedures documents
  • Organization provides feedback to Professional’s documents

Milestone 3: Delivery of Board Policies & Procedures
  • Professional delivers board policies and procedures document outlining recommendations for more effective governance of the Organization
