Case Study Writing
Case Study Writing
Project details
What we need
- A 500 - 1,000 word ready-to-publish case study that details your Organization’s impact in a compelling narrative
Additional details
With a large unrestricted grant, we launched a magazine that highlights our work and other community organizations' work, and models civil debate on important topics to our region, such as pensions, disruptive protests, and mining. We are nonpartisan. We no longer have the grant, and need to write a case to support the magazine to present to potential funders, including individuals and organizations. What we have in place
- We currently have magazines w/ edited stories, testimonials, & other materials, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have people we can call on to ask for personal impact stories, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,276 , allowing us to focus on outreach to secure funding for the program.
This case will help us jump start our fundraising efforts for this important program. We have never written a case of this sort, so outside help will help us get past this hurdle so we can start meeting with donors.

Our mission
The Citizens League is a member-supported nonpartisan nonprofit organization that champions the role of all Minnesotans to govern for the common good and promote democracy.
For 66 years and counting, the Citizens League has been engaging citizens and solving problems by bringing diverse perspectives together to find common ground. The Citizens League has developed and implemented nonpartisan policies on critical issues facing Minnesota, such as education, governance, taxes, parks, and transportation.
Our approach to problem solving starts with a non-partisan look at the facts; involves people and communities directly affected by the problem; and makes sure diverse backgrounds, parties and ideologies are at the table. Over several decades, this proven method makes Minnesota a better place to live and work for everyone.
The Citizens League is directed by a volunteer board, guided by operating committees, and financially supported by individual members, foundations and businesses. In addition to policy projects, the League also hosts several events throughout the year - opportunities to convene and engage with people with different viewpoints on a variety of policy issues.
Testimonials
Neil is fantastic. As we began talking about our case writing project, it became clear through thoughtful conversations that we needed to take a different approach, which he is now leading us through. He is super responsive and professional, a very good listener, and a pleasure to work with. His work products are impeccable. I couldn't recommend him enough.
The Citizens League gives Minnesota a good name. Some of the most important achievements of Minnesota government -- like our our distinctive approach to environmental stewardship, cultural growth, and public transportation -- have developed from the Citizens League's inclusive, democratic and participatory public discussion process. For me, it's an honor and a privilege to help the League think through an important challenge. What began as a simple funding pitch turned into a process of genuine discovery for the League, its members, and the local community — a process I'm delighted to be facilitating. Every member of their staff has treated me with kindness and respect, and their shared commitment to citizen leadership is an inspiration.
