What we have in place
- We have a volunteer who serves as our Volunteer Coordinator, Steve. Steve will lead this project with oversight from our Executive Director and possible administrative help from other volunteers. We have LinkedIn, a volunteer webpage and portal, volunteer job descriptions, applications, waivers, and reference forms, we just need help in putting it all together and supplementing to create a great recruitment and vetting process.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,806 , allowing us to purchase flights to get around 5 doctors, nurses, or paramedics to a disaster site.
Our organization relies on the work of our volunteers to fulfil our mission. This requires us to be able to rely on our volunteers for their clinical work and their character. We are looking for someone to help us create recruitment and vetting standards and best practices for our unique volunteer model. We know the clinical requirements to volunteer with our organization but need the help of an HR professional to help us to create a sustaintable process.
Project plan
Our mission
To immediately aid, sustainably support, and empower communities located in the most remote and difficult to reach disaster zones and humanitarian emergencies.
What we do
NYCMedics is committed to the humanitarian imperative - the right to receive and to give assistance wherever it is needed. We are a global relief organization that works in unison with the larger humanitarian response to disasters and complex emergencies throughout the world to save lives and lessen human suffering.
We put our mission into action with three core international programs: Mobile Medical Disaster Relief, Prehospital Systems Development, and Global Aid Targeted Initiatives. NYCMedics is uniquely positioned to rapidly deploy international teams of medical professionals, providing the highest level of care to people who would otherwise not have access to relief efforts. We build sustainable prehospital care, emergency medical services, and disaster preparedness infrastructure in low- and middle-income countries on a local, regional, and national scale. We also partner with local nonprofit organizations to lend our expertise and resources in a diverse array of ongoing humanitarian relief efforts to assist vulnerable populations isolated by geographical or economic barriers.
