The Change Campaign aims to enhance financial literacy through co-curricular activities and real-world experience to children and teens, particularly those from marginalized communities. The goal of the project is to teach youth how to manage and handle money responsibly before making important financial decisions that could impact the rest of their lives. The lack of a standard financial literacy curriculum available to all students in our nation creates a tremendous opportunity gap, where youth from higher socioeconomic backgrounds are often exposed to money from an early age while their less-privileged peers do not have the same opportunities to learn from. Therefore, impoverished youth oftentimes are not equipped with the knowledge to make well-thought financial decisions, further perpetuating the cycles of poverty. The hope is for The Change Campaign to become a social enterprise of sorts to not only spread the program to many more students, but also to create a sustainable source of revenue for North Light.
