Project details

What we need
  • A photographer who will attend the Organization's event to take photos
  • A set of professionally edited, high-resolution images delivered in a digital format suitable for web or print use
  • Note: The photographer needs to be available in the same geographical location as the Organization or be willing to travel at own expense
Additional details

This installation and associated events are taking place on Saturday October 20, 2018. We'd love to get photos that capture the art installation, at least one of the guided walks, and people interacting and enjoying the event.

What we have in place
  • We will manage all on-site coordination with the artist environmental educator and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation to ensure this event will go smoothly From 11 am-3 pm on October 20 2018 the installation will be on view (it will remain after the event) and the artist will lead a make-and-take paper-making workshop The environmental educator will lead guided walks in the park. We will provide additional tables and tents as needed for the day and have secured an event permit We will also promote the event via newsletters social media and flyers and will share photographs afterwards.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,998 , allowing us to obtain necessary documentation of a prototypical project that is the first of its kind for our organization.

As the Conservancy's first environmental art installation, this project represents growth for our arts and culture program as we explore opportunities to tie arts into our various work areas. It's also a piece of our FDR Park Master Plan, and will be one of several opportunities to engage park users in the larger planning and design process for the park's future vision. This project and event will provide key learning opportunities for visitors to learn why FDR Park is so crucial to the city's environmental health, particularly as we face rising sea levels and other effects of climate change.

Our mission

Fairmount Park Conservancy exists to champion Philadelphia's parks. We lead capital projects and historic preservation efforts, foster neighborhood park stewardship, attract and leverage investments, and develop innovative programs throughout the 10,200 acres that include Fairmount Park and more than 200 neighborhood parks around the city.

What we do

The Conservancy works in three primary ways to make Philadelphia's parks better:
1) We activate the parks by designing innovative programs and amenities that bring people from all walks of life together in our city's common spaces for exercise, entertainment, education and rejuvenation. We help make the parks a destination.
2) We improve thousands of acres of public lands and the structures within them. Our projects include restoration and preservation of natural lands and historic buildings as well as new construction on sports fields, trails, neighborhood parks, and playgrounds. We partner with the city in stewarding Philadelphia's 10,200 acres of parkland.
3) We engage with communities all over the city to enrich our park programs and investments. We leverage volunteers and private funding to make our public parks even better.
