This project will save us $10,792 , allowing us to Have an even greater impact on the lives of our clients and on our wider community, by devoting those funds to solving homelessness one person at a time.

What We Need

  • A Salesforce database including: a customized set of Salesforce objects, single-record editing of data and field history tracking (up to 15 object types), a customized set of views to allow table-based editing of data (up to 15 views), a customized set of reports to pull data from multiple object types (up to 15 reports)
  • Migration of Organization's current database to Salesforce
  • Training for designated staff member on new objects, reports and views
  • “Hand-off” documentation on the object schemas and any custom code

How This Will Help

We want to use our Salesforce instance to automate (1 step) communication/information-sharing that previously took 2-3 steps and led to balls being dropped. This project would focus on our Case Management environment but ideally would also cover Vendor Management and Compliance. Our primary goal is to have the entering of information into Salesforce (w/r/t Case Management) or the information that is already entered in Salesforce (w/r/t Vendor Management and Compliance) trigger emails to the applicable stakeholder(s) notifying them of such events/information and corresponding obligations. We envision a Stage 2 (after this project) involving platform integrations, but that is outside scope.

What We Have In Place

We have been using Salesforce for several years, and have approximately 3 years worth of data within our Case Management instance. We have an individual on staff who serves as our point of contact, both internally and externally, on Salesforce matters, and our COO is also familiar with Salesforce and will be actively involved in this project.

Project Steps

Milestone 1: Information Gathering
  • Volunteer Manager provides the Professional with a detailed description of data tracking and reporting needs
  • Professional makes recommendations on Salesforce objects, views, and reports to address the Organization's needs
  • Professional proposes a schedule for data migration and Salesforce platform customization
  • Volunteer Manager prepares data for migration
Milestone 2: Data Migration and Customization
  • Professional conducts data migration
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager check accuracy of migration
Milestone 3: Handoff
  • Professional delivers handoff document to Volunteer Manager
Prerequisites for Professional
  • Proficiency in Salesforce
  • Experience creating and/or customization CRM platforms
  • Experience in database schema design and light coding
Prerequisites for Organization
  • An existing database to migrate to Salesforce
  • A preliminary data cleanse including spreadsheet merging and de-duplication
  • A list of reports to be designed
  • A Salesforce account
  • Note: Salesforce provides up to 10 free user licenses for nonprofits

Our Mission

Our mission is to end homelessness one person at a time through access to employment, training, and housing. In addition to our award-winning Ready to Work program - which provides paid work, housing, and support services for homeless men and women re-entering the workforce - we also provide outreach case management services for basic needs through our Path to Home program and nightly meals through our Community Table dinner program. Bridge House is a bridge for many seeking a pathway out of homelessness.
