Additional details
Seeking a professional photographer or graduate student photojournalist to volunteer as much time as your schedule allows on Sunday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the DCR Hatch Shell and Charles River Esplanade in Boston. We are looking for photos of the 26th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Boston walk. When you volunteer, a specific area (such as the stage or the walk route) will be assigned to you. Dress in layers, as the day can start chilly and end warm.
What we have in place
- With an estimated 25,000 walkers expected to attend, and the beautiful Boston cityscape, there should be no shortage of compelling photos.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,998 , allowing us to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone by funding innovative breast cancer research; promoting education and risk reduction; and providing comprehensive patient support to those who need it most.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 30: Illustrating the connection to breast cancer that each participant has can help other know they are not alone in their journey, and it can encourage more people to get involved with the event, in turn raising more money for breakthrough disease research, patient education and prevention and support services. Photos would be used for digital and printed marketing materials, social media and news releases.

Our mission
The American Cancer Society's mission is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
What we do
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Our Global Headquarters are located in Atlanta, Georgia, and we have regional and local offices throughout the country to ensure we have a presence in every community.
While most people know us for our research, we do so much more. We attack cancer from every angle. We promote healthy lifestyles to help you prevent cancer. We research cancer and its causes to find more answers and better treatments. We fight for lifesaving policy changes. We provide everything from emotional support to the latest cancer information for those who have been touched by cancer. And we do it all 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
